The highly unusual move to revert to online learning since the pandemic followed the decision by Minouche Shafik, its president, to call in New York City police late last week for the first time in more than three decades to arrest protesters and suspend students involved.

“Over the past days, there have been too many examples of intimidating and harassing behaviour on our campus. Antisemitic language, like any other language that is used to hurt and frighten people, is unacceptable and appropriate action will be taken,” Shafik said in a statement.

It seems that the pro-Palestine protesters are enjoying their time and the pro-Israeli are the agitators, but the media is covering the protests the other way around. The University’s official line naturally follows the mainstream, which pretty much exempts everything that Israel does, in fear of being labelled as an antisemite, which is career-ending for anyone in the U.S., especially for the politicians because of the powerful Israeli AIPAC lobby.

It is highly controversial, that the United States which just recently had its House pass a vote to give the Israeli govt a whopping $15 billion in unconditional aid, is making the students who protest against the genocide and famine the regime is supporting, look like criminals instead of the ones committing the actual crimes.
